Company Background - Established in Southwest Virginia in 1986 by Len and Dottie DeShano, (originally as AMT, Inc.) Payroll Solutions Plus provides experienced resources for your business - full service payroll, benefits, HR and business solutions. Our team anticipates, troubleshoots and then designs solutions for your administrative challenges.

Our personal care and attention to our client's needs makes us different. Our team's extensive knowledge allows us to determine the best solutions for your business. Our combined purchasing power and expert administrative solutions has saved our client's thousands of dollars annually. Our services allow our clients to have the time, energy and resources to focus on increasing their company's bottom line. The result is greater productivity and profits.

Serving the Roanoke and Rocky Mount areas of Central Virginia, Payroll Solutions Plus has expanded throughout Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia, and Maryland. We are a member of NAPEO, Roanoke Chamber of Commerce, and Franklin County Chamber of Commerce.

Small business owners perform the duties that their company needs , they often do not have the additional resources to hire an additional person to keep them out of trouble with Human Resources, IRS, Virginia Employment Commission, Worker's Compensation, and Payroll obligations, let alone take advantage of laws that allow them to build a large retirement account.

My empathy is with the business owner and our company offers the services needed at a fraction of the cost of an additional employee. We provide an outsource resource the business owner can turn to for time tested, reliable answers. The average payroll companies do not provide the kind of comfortable and secure assistance that Payroll Solutions Plus can and will.

In addition to keeping the corporate records up to date, I provide a personal in-depth look at our business in a softer view. I reflect on and evaluate issues that develop as our business continues to grow from year to year. I often provide insights into our company's philosophy, it's marketing look and the company's public profile, as well as it's employee selection. As a co-founder, owner and board member, I find that my years in the company allow me to be able to provide a perspective from our clients' point of view.

As the President, I assist all clients and employees with any requirements they request. In addition, I handle the Workers Compensation program and coordinate all Underwriting, Claims Handling, Loses and Data Construction. Also I do all fact findings in Unemployment claims and participate in the hearings and appeals. As one of the trustees for our 401k plan, I handle loans, testing data and year end certified audits. I manage the IT for the company's network and our software, as well as updates. I create specific reports and assist payroll and the benefits specialists as necessary and consult the clients as their needs develop.

As the representative for company legal contracts, I negotiate contracts with our vendors and work with the clients on special reports and requests. Additionally, I represent the company through the National Association of Professional Employers Organization (NAPEO) as a Legislative Chair for 6 states (VA, WV, DC, MD, PA, and DE) and with the Worker's Comp Commission, Bureau of Insurance, Virginia Employment Commission and State Corporation Commission to monitor the State Legislature for future changes in any (PEO) Professional Employer Organization, law and regulations.

As the company's accountant, I am responsible for maintaining the corporate books, which includes preparing weekly and monthly financial statements and all monthly bank reconciliation's. I also prepare all leasing and payroll quotes for perspective clients, and prepare the monthly self-audit for our workers' compensation insurance. It is my responsibility to ensure that the bills are paid in a timely manner and that the firm is financially healthy. I've been with the company over 13 years and have gotten to know our clients and the business pretty well.
It is a great company to work for.

As the benefits administrator I assist our clients and employees with their benefit options. The employees have the option to participate in Group and Individual Health Insurance, Sec. 125 Cafeteria Plan, Dental Insurance, Supplemental Insurances and 401 (k) if their employer offers the plan. For the client I can aide in recruiting and keeping great employees by offering Employee Assessments, Background Checks, Drug and Alcohol Screenings, Handbooks tailored to your specific issues and HR Guidance and Compliance.
Each year I offer hands-on "Open Enrollment" to all the clients and employees for them to review their benefit package and make changes as their needs change. This is a great opportunity for me to visit with our clients and employees and make sure that both are receiving the service that
they expect and deserve.

I process payroll from time entry to actual printing of checks and paying applicable taxes. I am in direct contact with my clients at all times. I assist them when needed for questions and/or concerns with payroll related questions.
My specialties include full payroll and multi-state tax compliance knowledge. I have a great repore with my clients. I feel like every question they have is important and my clients know they will get a direct answer before the call ends, unless it requires more research for a correct solution, then I'll follow up with
the answer they need.

I assist in workers' compensation and unemployment related issues. This includes submitting applications for coverage, obtaining loss runs, requesting and issuing certificates of insurance, setting up appointments and supplying requested reports for workers' compensation audits. It is my job to assist in gathering information and submit to the VEC. I confirm with all parties on hearing dates.

When an accident occurs, it is my responsibility to ensure that a first report of injury is completed and submitted in a timely matter. I work with the insurance adjusters on each individual claim by gathering information from the injured worker, the employer and the medical facility involved in the claim. I try to always assist my clients in a thorough and timely manner. If faced with a situation were I am uncertain of an answer or solution to their need, I find someone who is certain.

Shari Bower - Payroll AssistantShari Bower - Payroll Assistant
I process payroll for leasing and payroll clients; this includes entering time, garnishments, child support orders, any other miscellaneous deductions and pay any taxes that are applicable. I call in federal and state taxes to EFTPS and process liability taxes weekly as well as process quarterly taxes, including year end taxes and W-2's. Also, I handle new hires reporting to the VEC.

I assist clients by processing their payrolls, answering any questions that they may have and if I don't know the answers I direct them to someone that can assist them. I enjoy working with my co-workers and clients, I work hard and am willing to learn any new job functions when needed. I look forward to the company's growth and success.
